The federal government has outlined specific interventions marking the beginning of a comprehensive programme aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerians.

Minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, disclosed this yesterday during the official commissioning and presentation of medical equipment to select healthcare institutions organised by the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) in Abuja.

Jisalo stated, “This is just the beginning, and we are continuing with this programme. This year’s budget will capture everything. Health is wealth, and without health, you can’t stay. That is why we are providing health materials and equipment to all health centers at the primary and secondary levels, reaching even wards and local governments.”

Highlighting the alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister emphasised the significance of maintaining the equipment for the benefit of future communities.
He added, “We assure Nigerians that we are going to do more this year; more revenue will come. We are in the season of generating revenue.”
The executive Secretary of NLTF, Dr. Bello Maigari, said the healthcare initiative would cover all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He noted his commitment to bolster healthcare infrastructure, showcasing an innovative approach that emphasises social inclusivity and economic empowerment.

Maigari explained that the initiative was fueled by proceeds from the lottery and gaming sector, which aimed to improve healthcare access nationwide.

The executive secretary announced the selection of about 15 health institutions across diverse regions to benefit from an array of cutting-edge medical equipment, including digital X-ray machines, colour-ultrasound machines and kidney dialysis machines.
Dr. Maigari assured the public of a robust monitoring and evaluation system, ensuring efficient utilisation and long-erm benefits.
He urged lottery operators to collaborate in raising awareness about the positive impact of lottery funding.

Special tribute was extended to frontline healthcare professionals, with acknowledgment of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission’s crucial role in regulating the lottery business in Nigeria.
