Islamic Scholar Delves into Importance and Health Advantages of Ramadan Fasting

As the sacred month of Ramadan unfolds, Muslims across the world embark on a journey of fasting, reflection, and communal harmony.
Chief Imam and founder of Allahu Mujeeb Islamic Society of Nigeria, Al-Imam Moshood Abiola Oladerin, shared insights on Ramadan’s significance and the necessity for Muslims to observe fasting during this holy month.
Speaking at a pre-Ramadan lecture in Itori, Ogun State,
Imma Oladerin, highlighted Ramadan as the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, while  emphasising its role as a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and heightened devotion.
He pointed out fasting as a fundamental pillar of the faith, citing reasons behind its significance. He  that fasting purifies the soul, fosters self-discipline, and strengthens the connection with Allah through abstention from food, drink, and negative behaviours.
Furthermore, he emphasised fasting as a means to commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad, encouraging increased engagement with the holy book through recitation and reflection.
The Islamic scholar, also underscored Ramadan as an opportunity for seeking forgiveness, repentance, and acts of kindness, alongside its perceived physical and mental health benefits, including detoxification and mental clarity.
He concluded by highlighting Ramadan’s role in fostering unity, compassion, and communal growth within the Muslim community and beyond, while offering a transformative period for spiritual and moral development.
