LASDRI Commences Training, Recertification for School Bus Drivers to Enhance Road Safety asdri

In a bid to improve safety and sanity on Lagos roads, Lagos State Driver’s Institute (LASDRI) has commence training and recertification exercise for School Bus Drivers operating in Lagos State.
In her welcome address to the first batch of the participants, Mrs.Tiamiyu Afusat, the General Manager of the institute, said the significance of the training and recertification of school Bus Drivers cannot be over stated, as it plays a crucial role in protecting the lives of students entrusted to the school Bus Drivers and staff, adding that these professionals are responsible for the safety and the well-being of students during their daily journey to and from school.
According to the LASDRI Boss, it is essential to address the most prevalent hazard that School Bus Drivers and staff may encounter on the road and understanding of these hazards allow for better preparation and proactive measures to mitigate risks; these include, weather condition, traffic congestion, students behavior, mechanical failure, road condition and others.

Commenting on the training, one of the participants, Godwin Gedion of Greenview School, GRA, commended the Lagos State Government and the Institute for putting the package for School Bus Drivers, saying, “it’s imperative that school bus drivers to be versatile in safety rules and safe driving practice.”
