In a bid to address Nigeria’s persistently low health insurance coverage and ease the burden of healthcare costs for small businesses, Kuda Business has partnered with digital health provider OneHealth to deliver subsidised healthcare plans to SMEs and their employees.

The partnership comes at a time when only 19 per cent of adult Nigerians are enrolled in any form of health insurance, according to a recent NOIPolls survey. The same survey shows that 79 per cent of Nigerians still pay out of pocket for healthcare services, while 2 per cent rely on family and friends, placing the country among the top three globally for out-of-pocket health spending.

Through this new collaboration, users of Kuda Business—an arm of Nigeria’s leading digital bank—can now access healthcare benefits at a 60 per cent discount. Employers can enrol their staff in the OneHealth Standard plan for ₦6,000 per person over three months, or the Premium plan for ₦11,000. Existing OneHealth users also receive a 10 per cent discount on other services.

Adeola Alli, CEO and founder of OneHealth, said the initiative was driven by a need to support SMEs struggling with the rising cost of employee welfare. “Too often, employees either pay out of pocket or go without care altogether,” she said. “This partnership with Kuda is about making everyday healthcare possible again.”

The health plans, which can be activated via the Kuda Business app, include round-the-clock access to doctors, medication, and preventive care—allowing entrepreneurs to focus on growing their businesses while safeguarding employee wellbeing.

Nosa Oyegun, Vice President of Product Innovation and Strategy at Kuda, emphasised the broader impact of the initiative: “Supporting small businesses goes beyond providing financial tools—it means helping them protect their most valuable asset: their people. With this partnership, we’re ensuring healthcare becomes both affordable and accessible.”

The discounted plans are available through Kuda Business Perks, a growing suite of benefits aimed at helping SMEs reduce costs on financial services, operational tools, and staff wellness. The partnership between Kuda and OneHealth not only empowers businesses to provide essential care for their teams but also marks a critical step toward a more inclusive healthcare system in Nigeria.
