Ochade Ajabor Crowned Champion at MTN Golf Classic, Wins....

The exclusive MTN Prestige Golf Classic 2.0 commenced Golf tournament at Port Harcourt Club 1928 on Saturday, May 23, 2026, which brought together over 100 prominent business leaders and elite golfers. Mrs Ochade Ajabor, a member of the Rumuokwurushi Golf Club, clinched the overall championship title.

Ajabor accumulated 43 points, narrowly edging out the first runner-up, who finished with 42 points, by a single, crucial stroke. This victory earned her the ultimate prize, an all-expenses-paid trip to watch the iconic 154th Open at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England.

The annual tournament, which MTN organises, is a dedicated platform to connect with high-value customers, allowing them to socialise, network, and collaborate. Speaking, Ifeanyichukwu Udom, MTN’s South-South Regional Operations lead, emphasised the company’s commitment to connecting with customers through their interests. “At MTN, we try to connect with our customers at their passion points. The reality is that a lot of very important decisions are not really made in the boardroom, offices; a lot of decisions are made on the golf courses, so we provide that platform for our customers.”

Ajabor shared her delight, “I’m elated! It’s just a wonderful experience, I came out here to relax and enjoy myself, and of course I’m rewarded with that beautiful win.” Her relaxed approach to the sport paid off brilliantly.

MTN also used the event to introduce attendees to their latest products and services, distributing branded items and providing refreshments throughout the tournament. Udom expressed optimism about expanding the event, noting that they are looking into organising a women’s edition and exploring other passion points, like their existing Campus Activation for students.

While Ajabor looks forward to her trip, she maintains her relaxed philosophy. “It’s a form of relaxation and enjoyment. I just like to play golf. I’ll continue to play golf; if winning comes, fine. If not, other benefits like relaxation, friendship, something to enjoy about.” Other top performers, including the runners-up, also received trophies.
