FirstBank has strengthened its leadership in Nigeria’s banking industry after clinching two major honours at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, as the lender posted N687.7 billion in corporate banking revenue and processed over N15.4 trillion in digital corporate transactions.

The bank was named Nigeria’s Best Bank for Large Corporates for the third consecutive year and Nigeria’s Best Bank for Customer Experience at the prestigious global banking awards held in London.

The recognition comes after FirstBank recorded a 55 per cent increase in corporate banking revenue, rising from N443.8 billion to N687.7 billion during the review period, driven by stronger corporate lending, digital banking adoption and improved customer engagement.

Its AI-powered internet banking platform, FirstDirect, processed more than N15.4 trillion in transactions and handled over 5 million successful transactions in 2025, while corporate customer onboarding surged by 101 per cent to more than 5,969 businesses.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence are among the banking industry’s most respected honours, with winners selected after rigorous assessment of financial performance, innovation, customer impact, service delivery and strategic execution.

Commenting on the recognition, Group Executive, Corporate Banking Directorate, FirstBank, Mr Olaitan Martins, said the award reflected the bank’s commitment to delivering innovative financial solutions to large businesses.

“We are honoured to receive this prestigious award for the third consecutive year. This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering innovative banking solutions, exceptional service and strategic support to our corporate customers,” he said.

He added that the recognition underscored the confidence reposed in the bank by its corporate customers and reaffirmed its commitment to creating sustainable value through tailored financial solutions.

FirstBank also secured the award for Nigeria’s Best Bank for Customer Experience, following significant investments in digital banking and customer service under its “You First” initiative.

The bank said its Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform resolved 57 per cent of customer enquiries without human intervention by the end of 2025, while enhancements to its digital banking channels, including its online banking platform and LIT app, helped deliver a 90 per cent customer satisfaction score.

Chief Customer Experience Officer, Mrs Chikaodili Adun, described the award as recognition of the bank’s continued investment in technology and customer-centric service delivery.

“The Euromoney Award for Nigeria’s Best Bank for Customer Experience is a powerful validation of our commitment to putting customers at the heart of everything we do,” she said.

She noted that technology, innovation and employee engagement had enabled the bank to provide seamless banking experiences while setting new standards in customer service.

The latest awards add to FirstBank’s growing portfolio of domestic and international recognitions and reinforce its position as one of Africa’s leading financial institutions, with continued investments in digital transformation, corporate banking and operational efficiency.
