Dangote Refinery has confirmed the successful completion of a $2.5 billion private placement, one of the largest corporate fundraising transactions ever undertaken by an African company, in a move expected to strengthen its capital base and support its long-term expansion strategy.

The company announced the successful capital raise on Thursday, describing the transaction as a significant milestone that reinforces investor confidence in its business and future growth prospects.

While the refinery did not disclose the identities of participating investors or the structure of the private placement, it said the fresh capital would support its strategic expansion plans, deepen investments across key sectors and further strengthen its balance sheet.

The fundraising ranks among the biggest private capital transactions by an African corporate and is expected to enhance the refinery’s financial flexibility as it continues to scale operations.

The successful placement comes as Dangote Refinery expands its role in Nigeria’s energy sector, with increased refining capacity expected to support domestic fuel supply, reduce import dependence and strengthen the country’s industrial base.

The company noted that the additional funding would position it to pursue long-term growth opportunities while consolidating its investments and improving operational resilience.
