Lawal, 4 Governors Join Nigeria Delegation to Canada Africa Summit
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State will join four other state governors and senior federal government officials to represent Nigeria at the Canada–Africa Summit on Digital Rails and Inclusive Growth in Toronto, Canada.
The maiden investment summit is scheduled to hold from August 10 to 15, 2026, and is expected to bring together governments, investors, multinational companies, development finance institutions and development partners to deepen economic cooperation between Africa and Canada.
According to the Presidency, Governor Lawal’s participation is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic engagement at the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NDIEC), a platform designed to foster strategic partnerships and unlock investment opportunities across key sectors.
The summit aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s National Energy Transition Plan and broader efforts to position Nigeria as a strategic partner in Africa–Canada economic cooperation.
For Zamfara State, the conference presents an opportunity to attract investment, technology transfer, development financing and technical partnerships to support economic transformation. The state government said Governor Lawal will promote Zamfara’s investment potential in agribusiness, solid minerals, human capital development and digital innovation.
Other members of the Nigerian delegation include the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Governors Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, among other government officials.
