FCMB earns ISACA recognition for strengthening Nigeria’s digital trust
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has received recognition from the Lagos Chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) for its contribution to technology governance, cybersecurity, risk management, audit, assurance and digital trust in Nigeria’s financial sector.
The recognition was presented to FCMB at ISACA Lagos Chapter’s 30th anniversary celebration in Lagos on August 21, where the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yemisi Edun, accepted a commemorative plaque on behalf of the institution.
The honour reflects FCMB’s partnership with ISACA in promoting professional knowledge, skills development and stronger standards across Nigeria’s technology and digital-governance ecosystem.
Edun said the partnership was important as financial institutions increasingly depend on technology to deliver services and protect customers.
“We value our partnership with ISACA,” she said, adding that strong governance, cybersecurity, risk management and assurance had become critical to institutional resilience, customer protection and sustainable economic growth.
She said the growing technology dependence of financial services made it necessary for institutions to continuously strengthen the professional capabilities required to manage emerging risks.
Edun also expressed confidence that ISACA would continue to develop technology and cybersecurity professionals capable of responding to new threats while helping organisations take advantage of emerging technologies.
ISACA Global Chief Executive Officer, Erik Prusch, highlighted the depth and resilience of Nigeria’s information-technology and cybersecurity workforce, stressing that organisations require adequately trained professionals to sustain growth, manage rapid technological change and capture new opportunities.
The President of the ISACA Lagos Chapter, Justus Osuji, said the 30th anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on three decades of professional development, leadership and knowledge sharing.
He highlighted the chapter’s contribution to information-systems auditing, cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance and emerging technologies in Nigeria and beyond.
For FCMB, the recognition comes as the bank continues to expand its investment in digital capabilities, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and risk management as part of its strategy to deliver secure and convenient financial services to individuals, businesses and institutions.
The increasing digitisation of banking has made technology governance and cyber resilience more closely linked to financial stability, particularly as customers conduct more transactions through digital channels and financial institutions manage increasingly complex technology environments.
ISACA, founded in 1969, is a global professional association focused on information technology governance, cybersecurity, risk management and information-systems auditing. It has members across 188 countries and more than 225 chapters worldwide.
The FCMB recognition therefore extends beyond a corporate award, highlighting the growing importance of digital trust as a foundation for Nigeria’s financial system and wider digital economy.
