Sanwo-Olu should come to drivers aids; so as to end the harassment caused by tax force men in the state and Agberos’ extortions.

The Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has been urged to consider the pains that the Commercial Bus owners encountered in the state through the Daily road harassment that lead into injury, and the high rate of multi taxing which made the oppression so hard for them to handle now, and thereby seeking Governor Sanwo-Olu to come to the Lagos drivers’ aids and put an end to it for the peace and progress of Lagos.

The General Secretary of joint driver welfare association, Mr. Ajimotanrareje Adedapo Feyisayo made  this Notice of Emergency known, at the Press Conference  held on Friday at the Ikeja Right house, to announce the reason of possibility to embark ON STRIKE ACTION By the Joint Drivers’ Welfare Association of Nigeria (JDWAN) on the ready planned strike action, and withdrawal of services of commercial buses in Lagos State as from Monday, 31st October, 2022 incase Lagos fail to yield to their demands.

He described how the 70 percent of their income are delivered to Agbero on the daily basis, and 30 percent left to the Lagos drivers to feed, and it is very strange on the daily turture and taxing of Agents of Lagos State Park management, surfaced to bully and maltreat the drivers with canes and multi taxing.

He said further that a lot of drivers survived today through the grace of God that the government should bring back the good old Lagos days, which the drivers were only taxed with only single ticket and not like today’s issuing of multiple tickets that are sending the commercial drivers away from the roads.

He explained how the association cried out 2 years ago by writing the ex Commissioner of Lagos Police, retired AIG Hakeem Odumosu, to call the Agbero to order from their daily harassment on road drivers, which ended up making the Commissioner called seven branches of driver’s Chairmen together with the agberos’ for a meeting but later sent some drivers back home with a word to call the police for further result which yielded no fruit.

The member of the Driver Association to the Federal Assisted mass transit and cooperation Badagry to Ciemens, Mr. Opeyemi Sulaimon complained that it is greatly overtaxing in Lagos today that Lagos he knows before used to be known only one road ticket and it is the same in every local government area but it has gone beyond normal now, as Lagos Park management has its own issued ticket in Lagos so also is Lagos State Care Taker committee ticket is now printed to extort additional money from the drivers.

He said that government should rescue the drivers from the multiple extortion and taxes made by the Agberos’ everyday which only its violence alone has sent many to early grave through their way of beating drivers and compelling them to pay offloading fee, turning fee and security fee everywhere in Lagos.

The Chairman of Drivers and owners associations, Ikorodu road, Mr. Lateef Ismaila urged the government to consider how it would be so tough on Nigerians if there is rise in transport fare in the country and the people may not be able to afford it but it would help the masses if governments reduce on going multiple taxes.

Also government should note that it is only when all lagosians can afford to pay any given fee in the state, that the 2023 general election can be featured with the whole citizens to exercising their franchise.

But it would however be unfair if they fail to come out enmasse to vote.

He said about 6 drivers have died on the road over the oppression of Task force and Lastma turture and multi taxes.

So, he appealed to the government to help address it on time and reduce so many Blood Pressure it has caused among the commercial bus drivers and members for the peace and progress of Lagos State.
