NAICOM, NDPC Forge Strategic Partnership to Enhance Data Protection in Insurance Industry

In a landmark meeting, the Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, welcomed the National Commissioner and CEO of the National Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Mr. Vincent O. Olatunji, to his office for a courtesy visit.
The meeting marked the beginning of a significant collaboration between the two agencies.
Mr. Omosehin, in his opening remarks, expressed NAICOM’s eagerness to work with the NDPC to achieve their respective mandates.
He highlighted NAICOM’s key functions, including regulating and supervising the insurance industry, and identified areas of mutual benefit between the two agencies.
Mr. Olatunji, in response, thanked Mr. Omosehin for the warm reception and explained that the NDPC, being a newly created agency, aimed to raise awareness about the data protection law and seek NAICOM’s cooperation in implementing data protection policies among its regulated entities.
He emphasized that the NDPC’s primary objective was to educate and build capacity before enforcing the data privacy law.
