Senate Vows to Strengthen Appropriation Bills for Ministry of Works
The chairman, House Committee on Works on Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, Hon. Akin Alabi has commended the pace of work on the ongoing 700km coastal highway project, adding that, the project is timeous and reassuring with the quality of reinforcements and technicalities deployed.
The Senate House committee avowed that the unprecedented level of work will further strengthen the approval of appropriation bills for the Ministry of Works to boost infrastructure projects.
Akin Alabi affirmed that, the ministry of Works ran into problematic areas of shelving realignment to save submarine cables, substations, paying compensation to affected property owners and dealing with swampy areas while starting up the project.
The committee chairman, while carrying out independent oversight inspection of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, applauded Hi-Tech construction company for bolstering infrastructure with the quick pace of work and commitments to nation building. He noted that, the coastal road is a legacy project of President Tinubu’s administration to improve infrastructure and save travel time.
He also explained that, the project will boost every sector of the economy upon completion from real estate, transportation, housing estates, commercial centres, observation rooms, and tolling points.
He encouraged Hitech to improve their stead to enable them achieve the Commissioning of 47 km section of the road by December, 2025 while stressing that, the construction will pave way for tolling points and revenue.
Addressing his concerns, the chairman, Hi-Tech Construction Company, Danny Abhoud, said, “we are having challenges with the swampy areas but he asserted that they will come up with extensive study designs to minimize the effects to the Federal government and deliver the 47km sections for another commissioning in December.”
Also speaking, Federal Controller of works, Lagos State, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha applauded the performance of Hi-Tech construction company while stating that they have done more jobs than all the payments they’ve received.
Kesha added that, Hi-Tech has performed beyond “our expectations, we are highly impressed with their dedication to work and level of expertise deployed to providing the best concrete road infrastructure. We are hoping that by December, we will have more sections to commission with the level of their commitments to work.”
Speaking on the shoreline project in Marina, she lauded the structural integrity and quality of job being done by Buildwell Engineering company even as, she said, the project will further reinforce and protect the investment of Lagos State government.
