Cabinet Shake-Up: Tinubu Appoints Oyedele, Removes Edun
President Bola Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Mr Oyedele replaces Wale Edun, who has been directed to hand over his duties with immediate effect.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by George Akume, who said the changes are part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve economic management.
Before his new appointment, Mr Oyedele served as Minister of State for Finance and also chaired the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee.
The reshuffle also affects the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The outgoing minister, Ahmed Dangiwa, has been asked to vacate his position, while Muttaqha Darma has been named as his replacement, pending confirmation.
According to the statement, all handover processes are expected to be completed on or before April 23.
President Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the cabinet to deliver better economic outcomes for Nigerians.
