OLOGAFE Holds Maiden International Convention to Re-ignite Alumni Pride

In bid to develop goals and coordinate the efforts aimed at accomplishment, Our Lady’s Old Girl’s Association, modakeke, Ile-Ife, Osun State, (OLOGAFE) holds her first international convention with the theme “Re-ignite Alumni Pride” at the country club GRA, ikeja, lagos.

The three days maiden international convention which started on Friday 8th, – sunday, 10th December had dignitaries and Alumni in attendance from both home and oversea with various activities such as, visitation to little Saint Orphanages Tower, talks and speeches, Games, pool side gathering and lot more.

During the GALA night of the Convention, the Global President of the Association Dr. Mrs. Yetunde Akinluyi, in her speech welcomed everyone saying the convention is an affirmation of the Power of Positive thinking and the convention is most unique because of the peculiarities in the world today that people transversed across the states, region and continents to make it for the programme.

According to her, “there are challenges in the world economically, socially, morally even nature. We are combating with climate change, dark clouds of the storms, tempest and torrential rains of negativism even from within but then you are here. It is important to note that everyone here is a CHAMPION”.

She said, “As an alumnus, let us appreciate each other. Life gives us brief moments with another but sometimes in those brief moments we get memories that last a life time.We all take different paths in life but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere. In our theme and ashtags, there is a common direction of Togetherness, Teamwork, Collaboration, Common goals at improving ourselves, our Alma Mata and the upcoming generation “.

She futher said, “To move forward there must be Energy, Strategy and Synergy. We pray for general well being, insights, wisdom intellect and the cooperation to make us impactful and productive”. She also lauds individuals, families, Set, Zonal, Regional and Global levels for efforts to execute various projects of the Association.

At the convention was also the current Principal, Our Lady’s Girls High School, (OLGHS) Ilé-Ifè, Osun State, Mrs D. G. Okunade, who spoke on the achievements, needs of the school so far and also gave accolades and credits to the association for their tremendous and unrelenting support towards the school.

Also at the convention was the chairman for the day; Arc. Roti Delano, Special Guest of Honor, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, representative of the speaker of lagos state, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, and also the notable speakers for the day Professor of Textile Art & Art History; Prof. (Mrs) Gbemi Areo, Chief Executive Office (ABCHealth); DR. Mories Atoki (HON), Consult Gynecologist/Fertility specialist; Dr. Yakubu Usman Adeiza, Founder\CEO RetMed physiotherapy & wellness centre; Dame Oluwatoyin A. Joseph, Brothers and spouses from other Alumni, St John’s Grammar school Ile-Ife, St Charles Osogbo and others which makes the day a remarkable one.
