The local bourse bounced back today, paring previous session losses, as the benchmark Index surged 0.99% to close at 74,502.58 points.
Interests in telco heavyweight, MTNN (+4.58%), alongside ZENITHBANK (+0.53%) and STANBIC (+8.20%) pushed the broader index into positive terrain, offsetting the losses in GTCO (-0.50%), UBA (-1.57%) and ACCESSCORP (-0.22%). As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 45.37%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦401.63bn to close at ₦40.77trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 56.20%. A total of 384.58m shares valued at ₦5.67bn were exchanged in 8,336 deals. JAIZBANK(+6.32%) led the volume chart with 49.40m units traded while ZENITHBANK (+0.53%) led the value chart with deals worth ₦1.06bn.
Market breadth closed positive at a 1.22-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones. IKEJAHOTEL (+10.00%) topped thirty-two (32) others on the leader’s table while UACN (-10.00%) led twenty-six (26) others on the laggard’s log.
