FIRS Strengthens Strategy to Boost Voluntary Tax Compliance

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is refining its strategy to enhance voluntary tax compliance, as the tax bills currently before the National Assembly are expected to significantly boost national revenue.
Executive Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji made this known at the West Africa Tax Administrators Forum (WATAF) Conference in Abuja, where he highlighted the critical role of effective communication in tax administration.
He urged corporate communications leaders to shape narratives, clarify policies, and foster public trust in the tax system.

Dr. Adedeji reaffirmed Nigeria’s leadership in regional tax cooperation, noting the country’s contributions to WATAF’s development through technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives.
He emphasised FIRS’s commitment to supporting tax policy reforms and resource mobilisation efforts across West Africa.
He encouraged participants to leverage the forum for professional growth and collaboration, while commending WATAF for its role in strengthening tax administration in the region.
