The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola; the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, Dr. Segun Obayendo; and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, have confirmed their participation in the 2026 Transportation Summit organised by the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN).
The summit, scheduled for September 24, 2026, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, has become a leading annual platform for dialogue on Nigeria’s transportation sector. It will bring together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, operators, development partners, academics, and other stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for improving Nigeria’s transport logistics infrastructure, policy implementation, safety, innovation, and sustainable development.
This year’s summit is themed, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics.”
Participants will examine the current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture across the road, rail, maritime, inland waterways and aviation sectors. Discussions will also focus on identifying bottlenecks to seamless cargo and passenger movement, the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion, investment opportunities within the logistics and supply chains, digital transformation, infrastructure financing, and public-private partnership opportunities.
TCAN Chairman, Mr. Tola Adenubi, said stakeholders would also review regulatory frameworks required to optimise the sector and recommend policies that will enhance efficiency and improve Nigeria’s global competitiveness.
According to him, the confirmation of participation by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, the Vice President’s Technical Adviser on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, and the NRC Managing Director underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to engaging stakeholders and advancing reforms aimed at transforming Nigeria’s transportation sector.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy is expected to deliver the keynote address, outlining the Federal Government’s logistics agenda, ongoing reforms, infrastructure investments, and policies designed to strengthen intermodal connectivity at the nation’s ports, improve the efficiency of the logistics value chain, and stimulate economic growth.
Dr. Obayendo is expected to provide insights into the country’s transportation sector and highlight the reforms and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as they relate to transportation, logistics, and infrastructure development.
Similarly, Dr. Opeifa will speak on the progress of Nigeria’s railway modernisation programme, operational improvements, rail safety, passenger and freight services, and the corporation’s role in driving national economic development.
Speaking on the significance of the participation of the top government officials, Adenubi said:
“We are delighted that the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Transportation, Logistics and Innovation, Dr. Segun Obayendo, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, have accepted our invitation to participate in the 2026 TCAN Summit.
“Their presence will provide participants with first-hand insights into the Federal Government’s vision for the transport sector and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue between policymakers, industry operators, and the media.”
The summit will also feature presentations by government agencies and key stakeholders across the transportation and logistics value chain, as well as networking sessions aimed at strengthening collaboration and addressing critical issues affecting road, rail, maritime, aviation, and multimodal transportation in Nigeria.
As part of the event, TCAN will honour outstanding individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s transportation sector through its special recognition publication titled “Champions of Transport Industry Development.”
