Gov.Lawal Receives Zik Pan African Leadership Award in Ghana

Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has been honoured with the ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award in Ghana in recognition of what organisers described as his administration’s achievements in public sector leadership and economic reforms.

Lawal received the award on Friday at the 7th ZIK International Peace and Leadership Award ceremony held at the British Council in Accra. The event featured a lecture on the theme, “Leadership, Peace and Regional Integration: Advancing Africa’s Development in a Changing Global Order.”

According to the organisers, the governor was selected for the honour based on his administration’s progress in public sector leadership, economic reforms and governance in Zamfara State.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ZIK Pan-African Award, Professor Echefuna R.G. Onyeabadi, said the award was instituted to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to public service and the development of their communities.

Receiving the award, Lawal dedicated the honour to the people of Zamfara State, describing it as a motivation to further accelerate his administration’s development agenda.

He said his government had remained focused on fulfilling its promises to the people, adding that significant progress had been recorded across key sectors within three years.

The governor highlighted ongoing urban renewal projects, the construction of a modern airport, as well as reforms in security, education, healthcare and the civil service.

He noted that the airport project marked a major milestone for the state, saying Zamfara had not witnessed such infrastructure development for more than three decades after its creation.

Lawal expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition, assuring that the award would inspire him to deepen efforts aimed at improving the welfare of residents and advancing the state’s development.
