Sanwo-Olu Offers 2,000 Police Officers Free Transport

The Lagos State Government has introduced a free transportation scheme for 2,000 police officers under the Lagos State Police Command as part of the Sanwo-Olu Cares Initiative.

The scheme, launched through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, will give the beneficiaries unlimited free access to the Blue Line and Red Line rail services, Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, and electric boats for three months.

After the three-month period, the officers will continue to enjoy a 50% discount on fares across the participating transport services.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport and Logistics, Hassan Adekoya, said the initiative was introduced in recognition of the contribution of security agencies to maintaining peace and safety across Lagos.

Adekoya said the programme also formed part of activities marking three years of commercial operations on the Lagos Blue Line Rail.

The initiative is the latest in a series of welfare programmes targeted at security personnel by the state government.

In recent months, the administration has also provided free eye screening and eyeglasses for personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
