Covid-19 has opened huge digital opportunities for MSMEs – Radda

The Covid-19 pandemic has opened huge digital opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development in Nigeria, Director General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, Dikko Radda has said.
Dr Radda stated this at the graduation ceremony of the MSME Digital Academy held in Abuja.
Underscoring the relevance of digital technology and e-learning, the SMEDAN DG stated that e-learning processes are not only by students but also by Organizations who want to bring out the best from their employees.
Accordingly, he said SMEDAN brought up the idea of the digital pandemic during the heat of pandemic to ensure that MSMEs were not dormant and can leverage technology to boost their businesses.
“SMEDAN as an apex government agency for facilitating the development of the MSMEs is partnering with a credible private sector institution, Sapphital learning limited to host and run the MSME digital academy to enhance e-learning for MSMEs not only in Nigeria but across the globe.
“Most importantly, this is a Covid-19 support project with huge potentials for youth empowerment, revenue generation and economic development, which is why I urge the first batch of participants who will be receiving their certificates today to leverage on what they have learnt in promoting their business and their skills.
“As for us in SMEDAN, we will carry you along in a our programs and give you a priority as part of our constitutional mandate,” he said.
Dr Radda added that the academy will sustain its operations to ensure that more participants are trained.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Nigeria-Export Import Bank, Abba Bello reiterated the Banks commitment to driving MSME growth in the country.
“With MSME being the largest employer of labour in the country and 50 per cent contributor to GDP, there must be deliberate efforts targeted at the development of the sector”, he said.
