Sanwo-Olu Seeks Stronger ties with Manufacturers to Boost Real Sector Growth

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has emphasised the importance of addressing manufacturing challenges in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCTA).
He disclosed this recently at the 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN), in Lagos.
In his opening remarks, he stated the need to address the fundamental challenges plaguing the manufacturing sector. “These challenges encompassed issues such as inadequate infrastructure, unreliable power supply, policy environments, and security concerns, all of which directly impact the sector’s growth and competitiveness.”
The theme of the 51st AGM, “Setting the Agenda for Competitive Manufacturing under the AFCFTA: What Nigeria Needs to Do,” held a special significance for the nation and the continent. Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement presented a historic opportunity for African nations to harness their collective potential and enhance competitiveness on the global stage.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Lagos State in Nigeria’s engagement with AFCTA, Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed his administration’s commitment to investing in essential infrastructure and implementing policies aimed at improving the ease of doing business and strengthening the productive capacity of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) across various sectors. These investments have attracted local and foreign direct investment, making Lagos the preferred destination for businesses.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed the commitment of his administration to foster a strong partnership with the organized private sector, working collaboratively to address challenges and unlock the vast potential of the real sector.
